January 19 - 21, 2011 Sisters Weekend in Durango
We made it to Durango on Friday afternoon which was just in time to eat dinner and start playing cards. Pretty much sister weekend is doing whatever during the day and card playing at night. In this case we skied during the day and it was 3 great days of skiing.
The weather changed pretty quick through out the day. We just made it on one of the lifts before they closed it due to snow, thunder and lightning.
With the conditions the way they were, it was necessary to go inside to one of the restaurants up on top of the mountain for some hot chocolate. And let me tell you the hot chocolate is amazing. I don't know if its all the snow that makes it so good, but now it's a tradition, Powderhouse for hot chocolate!!!
Saturday night we went down to the beach (that's where everyone hangs out by the outside fire pit & bar) to watch the fireworks and torch run. Unfortunately, the torch run got cancelled because of the weather, and the fireworks were hard to see.
Nic and some friends tried to give us our own torch light ceremony.
Sunday was more more skiing with alot more snow as well.
On Monday the sun was out and the snow was awesome. After lunch Nic had the afternoon off so he went out with Janet and I and did a few runs with us. He is a ski instructor so I was getting a private lesson.
After my lesson with Nic, this is the last run I did. He says I did great, but by then I was exhausted. 3 days of skiing was definitely enough for me.
Awesome Sister Weekend!!!

February 8, 2011 Hiking Camelback Mountain
With all the hiking that Kev and I do, today was the first time we ever hiked Echo Canyon trail at Camelback Mountain. Kev says it's also the last time we will be hiking Echo Canyon trail...LOL!!
It starts out with all these railroad tie steps. They seem to go on forever, and then you get to the part where it is all rocks. So now you are rock climbing the rest of the way up. This is not a nice little hiking trail, it's rock climbing. Kev kept saying, "this is not what I thought it would be."
We had to stop and rest a couple of times. (self timer photo!!)
These guys wanted nothing to do with the rock climbing so they took off right up the face of the mountain.
But we made it to the top!!!
There's these two sections where they have railings to hold onto cause the trail is steep and the rocks are pretty slick. I was going down real slow, and this girl just came running by me....Kev called her a showoff!!
Kev did fall on the way down and scrapped his leg pretty good on a rock. He kept crying about it so I had to take a picture of it.

February 3, 2011 My Birthday
It was my birthday and for starters Kev took the day off so he could spend it with me. If you know how Kev is this will come as no surprise, but we looked up online all the places you get free stuff on your birthday, mainly food. So we started out at On the Border for lunch. (I just wasn't up for Denny's) There we got a FREE dip trio and ordered the endless enchiladas. Not sure why I ordered endless, I could only eat two.
After lunch we went to Krispy Kreme, cause you get a Free dozen donuts on your birthday. (I have to say....I didn't even eat one!!)
Then it was a movie with FREE birthday popcorn. (Again didn't eat any)
The end of the day was dinner with the kids at Oreganos, one of my favorite places to eat. I of course had the super yummy Alfredo the Dark with Chicken. And that was followed by the warm and gooey amazingly delicious FREE pizzookie. Now that I ate!!!!
The guy wished Alicia a Happy Birthday cause she claimed the pizzookie when it came to the table!!
Great way to celebrate my last "in the 40's" birthday!! Plus I still have coupons that we printed for a FREE blizzard at Dairy Queen, a FREE Slushie at Sonic and a FREE gift at Hallmark!!!

- As of January 2009, I no longer have a job. It's not that I lost it, but after 26 1/2 years of working at the Post Office, I retired. According to everyone I know, I don't do anything all day, so I decided to start a blog. Now I can blog about what I don't do all day. I am married to Kevin, who is the most awesome husband I could ever have. It's because of him, that I do not go to work any more. I love that and I love him for that. Between the 2 of us we have 4 children. Hunter 31, Heather 29, Paul 28 and Alicia 26.
