September 19, 2020 Kev & Duke’s Birthday Dinner

It was Kev’s birthday weekend, and let me tell you he was making a weekend of it.  On Thursday night he played Pickleball with the guys which ended up with having pizza and drinking beer.  Then on Friday he went golfing which was followed by eating wings and drinking beer.  Then we had dinner at the club and he actually was feeling beered out lol so there was no drinking beer.   Yvonne had asked if we wanted to go to the club to eat since Greg’s birthday is on the 20th we could celebrate both the guys birthdays.  Saturday night at the club is prime rib night so they were all about it.  It was the first time I had been in the restaurant since my birthday in February.  Because of Covid, I just don’t feel the need to go.  But it was a special occasion so Yvonne got us a reservation for a table outside.  Dinner was yummy and they also got free birthday desserts.
I did say there was no beer drinking but they decided on a Jack and Coke.

September 9, 2020 Turkey Hunting

Kev made a couple trips up north to go turkey hunting.  He met up with his friends Mark and Twig.  Honestly I think it was more about hanging out with the guys, shooting the shit and drinking some beer  then it was about hunting turkeys.  But that’s just my opinion. The first time they had gone up and went hunting Kev said he had a couple shots but never hit one.  Those little suckers are quick.  Now this time when they went he got a good shot off and hit one.  The sad news is, we will not be eating fresh turkey on Thanksgiving.  He didn’t want to deal with cleaning and plucking and getting it all prepped so he gave it to Mark.
But here’s the proof, there really was a turkey that he shot with his bow.

September 3, 2020 Colonoscopy

So I’m taking the stories from sunsets to colonoscopies.....lol
I finally went and got a colonoscopy done.  There’s really no reason why I haven’t done it until now but I finally went and had it done.  Plus every time I go to the dr they ask if I got my colonoscopy yet and I kept saying no but I will.  With daddy dying from colon cancer they were always reminding me to go get one. The funny thing was is that I finally sat down to make the appt and I called the dr in September of 2019 and I couldn’t get in to see him til January.  So I go see the dr and tell him I need a colonoscopy etc and it was a new dr and he says why haven’t you had one done before? lol  I get it scheduled for March and then because of Covid it got cancelled and the soonest I could reschedule for was Sept 3rd.  Isn’t that crazy? I had to go get a Covid test 2 days before as well as the antibody blood test and then I did my prep,  which wasn’t bad at all.   Kev dropped me off and I was on my way.  All went well, he found one polyp and removed it.  When it was all over they called Kev and told him to come pick me up.  It was at the hospital across the street so it was really convenient.
I took a selfie while I was sitting there waiting.

August 20, 2020 Sunset

If I don’t get up early and get out to walk before it gets too hot I end up going out at night so I’m not in the hot sun.  Tonight I happen to catch some pictures of the awesome sunset.  I couldn’t help but stop and take some shots of it.

August 4, 2020 More Camping

We headEd back up north to get out of the heat and do some more camping.  We moved the trailer back over to Forest Lakes to a spot we camped at before and liked so we went back.  This time when we got back up to the trailer there was another trailer not too far from ours.  It’s like seriously?  The forest is a big place go somewhere else.  They weren’t partyers or loud but.... they loved to shoot and did that A few times and it was so loud and annoying.  Pretty much we disappeared all day so we wouldn’t have to listen to it.

It didn’t ruin our time in the cool weather, we still got out and did some fishing and hiking.

July 19, 2020 Vincent’s Birthday

It was time to celebrate Vincent’s 6th birthday.  They set up the water slide and he had a fun time playing and of course eating his cake.

July 16, 2020 Alicia and Family Camping

Once we got the trailer Alicia kept saying she wanted to come camping with us.  She always loves camping and wanted the kids to like it too.  We had it all figured out when they would come and they broke up the drive by going up to Arnold’s mom’s house in Heber and spent the night there and then drove up to Greer the next morning.  They had Vincent for the weekend too so all 6 of them were coming.

It was so fun to see all the kids just get right into being outside and running around in the dirt and the woods and having the chance to just explore and get dirty.  Right behind our trailer there was a blind and I knew that the kids, especially Vincent, would think it was a cool fort.

Since that blind was already there he thought we should work on building our own.  So he and I and the girls went out looking for the right sticks to set up out walls.  He picked out the trees where he wanted it and we worked on it to try and get it just right.

The problem with the weekend was that the weather was crappy.  It was kind of cold and it rained.....a lot.  So with the rain came the mud, which brought on not just being dirty but being wet and dirty and muddy.  But really it didn’t phase the kids at all.  It was only bad when it was raining hard and we were all trying to stay dry sitting under the awning together.

The plan was for them to stay two nights but after the first night, the next morning Alicia came out and told us they weren’t staying another night.  It was hard for them all to sleep.  We have them (the 6 if them) the trailer to sleep in and Kev and I slept in the tent.  The hard part was that the girls have only slept in cribs so getting them to go to sleep and then stay asleep wasn’t really working.  So they didn’t sleep much and Alicia didn’t sleep cause she was trying to get them to sleep so it just wasn’t working.  Hence the only saying one night.  Which ended up better for them anyways cause after they left it rained really hard all afternoon.  Maybe they’ll  try it again next year.

July 7-15, 2020 Camping in the White Mountains

We decided to move the trailer over to the White Mountains and do some camping over near Greer. It’s an area that we’ve camped at before and we really like it there. It’s called Greens  Peak and it has great areas to camp at, lots of trees, plus the weather in the White Mountains is a little bit cooler than it is over near the rim.

This was the view out in front of the trailer.  We found this awesome spot with a big meadow to look out in.
There are lots of roads to ride the quads on too, with such pretty views.

We drove over to Greer, which isn’t far from where we were camped and do some hiking.

On another day we drove to Mount Baldy to do some more hiking.

I’m usually the one that takes pictures so Kev took one of me, or at least my backside lol

I found some really great views to take some pictures of too, like this sunset I caught when we were driving back to our camp after hiking.

We know a few people that spend their summers up in the White Mountains in Pinetop & Showlow.  There were a few days we drove into those areas and met up with some and played some Pickleball.  That was fun and nice to play in the middle of the day without the heat we have down in the valley.

As of January 2009, I no longer have a job. It's not that I lost it, but after 26 1/2 years of working at the Post Office, I retired. According to everyone I know, I don't do anything all day, so I decided to start a blog. Now I can blog about what I don't do all day. I am married to Kevin, who is the most awesome husband I could ever have. It's because of him, that I do not go to work any more. I love that and I love him for that. Between the 2 of us we have 4 children. Hunter 31, Heather 29, Paul 28 and Alicia 26.
