Apr 25,2009 Relay for Life

I participated in the Chandler Relay for Life
on Saturday night. It is a walk for the American
Cancer Society that goes from 6 pm to 6 am.
The idea is that someone from your team is always
walking. We had a team of PartyLite consultants
that walked. It was an event that is both fun
and inspirational. The last picture is candle
luminaries which spells out what we all have,
HOPE for a cure.

Apr 16, 2009 Sisters Weekend at Janet's

Since Diane was here from New Jersey we
decided to head up to Flagstaff to stay at Janet's
for the weekend. When we got there Thursday
night it was snowing but it was all gone by
Friday afternoon. We spent the weekend
enjoying each other's company. Although,
we were very busy playing baseball, boxing,
bowling, and of course cards. Great sisters weekend.

Apr 12, 2009 Easter at Nicole's

Easter was at my niece Nicole's. It turned
out to be such an awesome day. Nicole is
with her mom (sister Barbara) & dad in the
top photo. Then we had all the girls pose for
a picture cause that's what they all like to do.
And of course a picture of 1/2 the family.
Hunter was at his girlfriend's and Paul was
up in Flag hiking the Grand Canyon in the
snow!!!

Apr 11, 2009 Birthday Party for Hayden

My niece Maureen (the one pictured with me)
has a little girl Hayden who celebrated her 1st
birthday. She is pictured with my sister in law
Kerry, the baby's grandma. The other pics are
of some of my other nieces and nephews.
Chris & his wife Candice and their children
Holly & Brenden. Next is Pam, Richie
& Maureen with Hayden. The last pic is my
niece Stephanie who makes these super cute
head bands & clothing accessories. Stephanie,
Chris, Maureen, Richie & Pam are all my brother's
kids.

The Twilight Series

I just finished the reading the Twilight Series.
I didn't have any interest in them when they
first came out but people just kept telling me
to read them, so I did. They are awesome. I
couldn't stop reading them. I love to read and
when I was working it was hard to do, because
I would sit down to read and fall asleep. It took
me forever to get through a book. But not anymore,
another benefit of being retired!!!

Apr 9, 2009 Alicia gets her Wisdom Teeth pulled

Alicia had all four of her wisdom teeth pulled
this morning. The before picture shows her
being all cool while she checks in. Then when
she was in recovery she was so funny. She
would not stop talking and they kept telling
her not to talk so that the gauze could absorb
everything. Then she kept saying things that
were just cracking me up. "They had to give
me the good stuff cause I wasn't out of it"
"They wouldn't let me count backwards, I never
got to say 10, 9, 8" "They promised me ice
chips, I never got ice chips, they lied"
The doctor came in and she told him I was
crazy. I just couldn't stop laughing.
Now she is resting with the remote watching
movies. So far so good, but she's still numb!!!

Apr 8, 2009 Happy Hour

A small group of us met at Aunt Chilada's at the
Pointe at Squaw Peak for happy hour.
It was Shelly, Rebecca, Mary, Nicole, Barbara
and myself. Evosh ( a friend of Nicole's) came
for a while and was feeling pretty special
being a part of an all girl happy hour.

Apr 6, 2009 Lunch with Paul & Alicia

Somehow it worked out that both Paul & Alicia
could go to lunch together with me. It doesn't
happen too often but it did today. Then after
lunch Paul had to go back to work, but Alicia
and I headed off to Nordstrom's for some
personal shopping!! A recommendation that
my friend Holly says every woman should
take the time to do.

Daily Hike

So one of the things I have been doing since
I retired is going hiking every morning. I go
out to Ussery Park and hike the same trail
every day. These are pictures of the trail
from bottom, 1/2 way up and then the top.
It's a 3 mile trail with the first 1 1/2 miles
being all up hill. I love it, it's a great start
to my day & an awesome workout.

Kevin's New Toy

Kevin has a new toy. He's always wanted a toyhauler
so we bought one from a guy on his route and we love it.
We took it out this past weekend and it was great. I did
have a small problem with sleeping, not because it's not
comfortable, cause it is really comfortable. But it was super
windy and I thought we were going to blow over and
I was so worried about it I couldn't sleep. Kevin was so
comforting, he laughed at me when I woke him up and asked
him if we were going to blow over and then went right back to
snoring loudly and sleeping like a baby.

Mar 12, 2009 Queen Valley

Kevin had the day off so we took the quads out
just past Queen Valley. We rode all the way to
the top of the mountain and then around it and
down the other side. It was a long ride but
awesome views.

Mar 8, 2009 Bahama Mama Outing

The four of us call ourselves the Bahama Mamas
because we first started hanging out together
when we went on a trip to the Bahamas.
We try to meet every couple of months to do
something. This was our last outing to Lucille's
at Tempe Market Place. Super Yummy!!!

Feb 28, 2009 Climb to Conquer Cancer, South Mountain

We did the Climb to Conquer Cancer in February.
It was a great 5.5 mile walk, all up hill!!!
Here are some photos of all of us.
My daughter Alicia, sister Janet, niece Lizzy and
real good friends, Madeline, Veronica, Jesenia & Lianna.

As of January 2009, I no longer have a job. It's not that I lost it, but after 26 1/2 years of working at the Post Office, I retired. According to everyone I know, I don't do anything all day, so I decided to start a blog. Now I can blog about what I don't do all day. I am married to Kevin, who is the most awesome husband I could ever have. It's because of him, that I do not go to work any more. I love that and I love him for that. Between the 2 of us we have 4 children. Hunter 31, Heather 29, Paul 28 and Alicia 26.
