One Month Old

Hard to believe it's already been a month since Annabelle was born.  She's growing and becoming more and more alert, it's so fun to see.  I spent the afternoon with her yesterday and loved every minute of it.  She did some sleeping, pooping, drinking and looking around.  So busy for such a little thing.  Here's a few pictures from the last month.

These first three are from the Sip and See Paul and Sarah had for everyone to come see the baby.
Look how happy and proud they are of their new baby girl.
Paul and Sarah with Annabelle with his best friend from elementary school Eric and his wife Gillean with their new baby Emma.
Got a chance to have a family photo.
All buckled in and ready for an outing in her car seat.
This was on Mother's Day.  I got in some snuggles.
She looks so big here and I swear she's smiling.
This was from yesterday when I was babysitting.  Wide awake and just checking it all out.
We had such a busy afternoon together I wore her out.

This was a collage that Sarah posted on Face Book.

Can't wait to spend more time with my baby Belle❤️

I Told You She Has Hair

Annabelle has a head of hair, and it's so cute.  The day she was born she had that cute beanie on but when I went back the next day she had had a fresh bath and her hair was out for all to see.  Both Paul and Alicia had a head of hair when they were born and Sarah was hoping their baby would too cause she said she was bald til she was three.
So check her out.  Not only all her hair but how she had her eyes open and was just taking it all in.

The photographer came in to take pictures so we put this little outfit on her.  She did really good but was ready to cuddle and sleep after.

Oh Baby!!!

We have a new baby in the family.  It's so exciting!!!! Paul and Sarah had a baby girl on April 18th.  They knew they were having a girl but until you see her you really can't feel the thrill.   It was a great day being at the hospital and getting updates every now and then as we sat in the waiting room.  Then Paul said the Dr would be there at 2:00 and the baby would be coming after that.  So as we sat and waited, it was 2:15 and we heard the new baby lullaby go off.  (The hospital plays a lullaby every time a baby is born.  While we were there it went off 7 times.). Kev and I and Sarah's mom all looked at each other and said that's for our baby, and sure enough it was.  Annabelle Maye Gonzales was born at 2:15pm and weighed 6lbs 14oz and 19 1/2 inches long.  She has a head of dark hair and is as cute as ever.
They text us this picture while we were still waiting to be able to go in and see the baby.  The doctor took it for them.
Look at that squishy little face. OMG so precious.   The bow on her little beanie was almost bigger then her head.
I could not wait to get my hand on her.  I have a new granddaughter!!!
The smiles on our faces are pure joy and love.  This is our first 3 generation picture.
Loving our new granddaughter ❤️ the new grandma and grandpa!!

Knee Surgery

This is the newest adventure at our house.  I had knee surgery 5 days ago.  My knee has been bothering me for a long time and it had reached the point that I had to get it fixed.  I had 2 tears in my meniscus that the Doctor repaired.  I had immediate relief that night when I went to bed.  It had been throbbing and spasaming for months and it was keeping me up all night, but when I went to bed that first night it was gone.  Yay....so much better already.   And it's been hurtin so much the last few weeks that the little bit of pain I have from the surgery isn't bad at all.  I used crutches a little bit the day of my surgery and the day after, but haven't since then and it's been going great.
After two days I got to remove the bandage and take a shower.  That felt great of course and gave me the ability to bend my knee more.  It's a little stiff and sensitive where the surgery holes are but that will all work itself out in time.
On Friday, which was three days after my surgery I went out for a bike ride.  It went good, even though I was a little nervous.  I felt it pulling but that's expected just to get everything moving.  It will get easier the more I do it.  With every knee surgery I've had the first thing that happens at PT is that they put me on a bike and get me peddling, so I know that's what I need to do more of and do it regularly.
Overall, knee is doing good.  I was sore today because yesterday I was out and about all day and on my feet a lot.  I made up for that today by pretty much staying off it and keeping it up and iced.  I go back to the doctor in 4 more days and he'll let me know then what else I'll need to be doing or what restrictions I'll have if any.  For now, I'm icing a lot and doing lots of stretches and will be getting back on my bike again tomorrow.

New Adventures Coming Soon

I love love love this picture.  And for so many reasons.  Let's start with that big smile on Kev's face.  He is so happy, thrilled, excited to be retired.  We had a great party and all night all he kept saying was"I'm  retired...whatta you want to do tomorrow?"  It was funny.  But it's so awesome that he has finally reached this point.  He's been waiting for this day to come and now it's here.  31 1/2 years is a long time and a great career, but definitely time for it to come to a close.  Every summer had been getting harder and harder to deal with because it just seemed to get hotter each year.  So no more carrying mail in over 100 degree weather.  He is so happy, and that makes me happy.

The other thing I love in this picture is that cake.  Can you believe it?  That's a homemade cake.  Everyone was taking pictures of it and thought it was so cool.  And it was delicious too.  I hated to cut it cause it was so awesome, but what was I gonna do with it if I saved it?  Most likely I'd be the one to eat it all.  But we did cut it and everyone got to enjoy it.

So as my title says... new adventures coming soon and they will be.  Everyone was asking what I was going to do with Kev home with me all the time.  I'm sure it'll be different but I also think it'll take both of us some time to actually realize that he won't be going back to work ever again.  It's a great time in our lives.

17 for 17

I re-read my post from the first of the year and realized that I still hadn't come back to post about what I said my goals for the year would be.  It's hard to make a list but here and there things were coming to me that I want to work on this year sometime.  Some are simple and may be quick and others will take more time and work.  And they aren't in any specific order of importance but just as they came to mind.

1) Lose Weight........no surprise there.  I know a new year is when most people jump on the bandwagon of going on a diet and losing weight.  I guess I am one of those people.  Although I must say I do declare that I need to lose weight throughout the year so I need to do it not just talk about it.

2) Exercise Daily.   Currently I play pickleball just about everyday and that is definitely exercise.  Sometimes I play a couple of times a day and it can be about 4 hours or more of playing.  I want this to continue, as far as the fact that I am doing some sort of exercise every day.

3) Eat Better.  I need to be better about eating more of the right foods and less of the junk I like. I love my desserts and chips and especially chocolate but sometimes it's out of control.  And I know I need more veggies and proteins, smaller portions etc so that's what I mean about eating better

4) Go to Bed w/Kev.  That kind of sounds funny, it's not like we don't sleep together.  lol But what I mean is going to bed when he does instead of staying up watching tv.  It's hard though cause he goes to bed at like 9:00 and sometimes I'm just not ready yet. So this will be something that will really take some effort.

5) Stop Drinking Diet Coke.  This is gonna be hard.  It can be done, I know it can because I e do e it before and one time was for 3 years!! But I love my Diet Coke. I'm not drinking it as much as I have in the past, but I do know I shouldn't be drinking it for overall health reasons.

6) Make a Weekly Menu.  This is so helpful to me in so many ways.  I know what I am making each night for dinner instead of trying to figure it out when it's time to eat. I know what I need from the grocery store for each day.  And it makes me feel organized. lol

7) Blog More Often.  I love having my blog but I don't like that I have huge gaps in between posts.  So I want to post more often and keep it up to date.  I enjoy it more that way.

8) Organize my Bedroom Closet.  I feel like I'm not utilizing some of the space in there. I need to move things around but it takes time. Plus I have my filing cabinet in there and sometimes I just pile stuff on it instead of filing it right away.

9) Stay on Top of Opening Mail.  Ugh....this drives me crazy.  I let it pile up and the pile just gets bigger and bigger and then takes a lot of time to go thru it and that's how the piles also end up on top of filing cabinet.  I finally open the mail and then do t want yo spend more time putting it all where it goes.

10) Do Charity Work/Volunteer.  I have nothing specific in mind, but I do feel like I need to make an effort to help others or help organizations in some way.  One thing is even to regularly give blood, or help Alicia in her classroom. But there is so much out there that I could do.

11) See/Talk More to My Sisters.  Sometimes there is way too much time that goes by that we talk or see each other.  I can understand not seeing Janet and Diane cause they are so far, but I can talk to them or FaceTime them.  Then Mary and Barbara are o lay on the other side of town and we barely see each other or even talk.  This needs some work and effort on my part for sure.

12) Be Better at Cleaning.  I overall do clean somewhat regularly, but the stuff I don't like to do need to be done more often.  Baseboards, Windows, Fans, you get it.  It's funny I thought it would be different being a new house and all but I still hate doing that stuff, old house or new.  lol

13)
14)
15)
16)
17)

So I still need to come up with more to complete the 17 for 17, but this is a start.  But I'm sad to say that here it is April and I've barely worked on any of these.  I want yo get better at this stuff for sure.

Undoing Christmas

I love when the house is all decorated with all kinds of Christmas decorations.  This year we had a live tree for the first time in I don't know how long.  Kev had said he wanted to start a new tradition and cut our tree down every year.  So we got a permit and went up on the rim and found our perfect tree.  It was a fun day, and as hard as it was to use a saw to cut it down and get it set up in the stand and then hang all the lights and get the decorations on, it was worth it.  We are already talking about doing it again next year and even have friends that want to join us!!
Not only did we have our main tree, but I also put up two other trees.  An ASU tree and a snowman tree.

So when all the trees are gone it always seems so empty.  I'm sitting here looking at some other things I need to put away.  Our holiday paintings.  Alicia and I have been to several paint nights and we had the chance to do a few different ones.  Here's some that are currently around the house.

It will look so bare without them, without everything all around the house.  But it sure looked good when it was all out.  Until next year, Christmas is put away....almost.

It's a New Year

Hard to believe a new year has begun.  As of two days ago we have been in our new house for a year. It's been a year, I can't believe it.  It's funny cause Kev and I continually have the conversation about how much we love our new house.  How we don't miss our old house.  Of course we love all the memories we made in that house but where we live now came at a perfect time in our lives.  We love where we live, we love the community and love that we are making new friends.  It's also been great that we have found an activity that we love doing together too.  Until we moved here we had no idea what Pickleball was and now we are so addicted to playing as much as we can.  We did 5 tournaments in 2016 and have more coming up in this new year.  It's fun and we love playing together. Well.....I know I do, hopefully Kev feels the same lol.

This new year will also be a great year for Kev.  He has just finished working his last Christmas at the Post Office.  It's really exciting, he's retiring April 1st!!!  No more getting up to go to work is going to be here soon.  He will then be getting up to go play Pickleball every morning like I do.  He's so excited that the end is so close.  I am too, it will be awesome having him here all the time.  Plus I really think he will feel so much better all the way around.  These last few years have been so hard.  Every summer it just seems to get hotter and hotter, plus the post office just gets harder and harder to tolerate.  He's ready.  32 1/2 years is long enough.
He was giving me that "why are you taking my picture" look lol

So usually on the first of the year I try to decide what my resolutions or goals are going to be for the new year.  I've been giving some thought to some different things I think I should work on but more or less still thinking about it.  As always, working on losing weight is on the top of the list.  But all this will be for another post.  For now, it's a new year and I've finally written a new post for my blog.  It's been way too long.
As of January 2009, I no longer have a job. It's not that I lost it, but after 26 1/2 years of working at the Post Office, I retired. According to everyone I know, I don't do anything all day, so I decided to start a blog. Now I can blog about what I don't do all day. I am married to Kevin, who is the most awesome husband I could ever have. It's because of him, that I do not go to work any more. I love that and I love him for that. Between the 2 of us we have 4 children. Hunter 31, Heather 29, Paul 28 and Alicia 26.
