June 27, 2012 Annaliese Swimming

Kev has been dying to get Annaliese in the pool.  He came home from work and she was still here so off we went to see what kind of swimming skills she had.  Heather & Alicia bought her a floaty seat but she wasn't too sure about it, or even about being in the water, which is funny cause she loves her baths.  It was a quick dip, long enough for some pictures and bubbles, but there will be more to come and I'm sure she'll soon be begging to have grandpa take her in the pool.

June 27, 2012 Splish Splash

Doesn't every baby love to play in the kitchen sink?

June 26, 2012 Fishing

Check out the size of the fish Kev caught up at Woods Canyon Lake today.  It was his day off so he and his friend Mark took a drive up north to get out of the heat and do some fishing.  He brought them home and they are now in the freezer so I'm sure we'll be having trout some time soon.

June 24, 2012 Diamond Backs Game

My friend Terry text me and wanted to know if Kev and I wanted to go to the D-Backs game with her and her husband Bob.  He had 4 tickets and they wanted to share 2 of them with us.  We met them at the stadium and had a great afternoon watching the game and hanging out with friends.

We were in the 2nd row of the second level so it was pretty funny trying to set my camera up to do a self timed photo.  They all thought for sure either my camera or I was going over the edge.  But success.....
I set it up and hopped the row of seats and made it for a cute picture of the four of us.

Kev's New Hat

You read the story of Kev's unsuccessful hat hunt right?  Well guess what?  He came home all excited the other day and came in and told me he found a hat like his old favorite.  I told him I hope you bought more then one so you don't run into this problem again and he said I did.....I bought 3!!!!
The thing is, some of the hats we looked at to replace his old one were anywhere from $19.99 to $35.  Not only was he so thrilled about getting 3 of them but they were only $7.00!!!!

Cute Melon

Alicia & Kimi were going to their friend Caitlin's Baby Shower, so they made this melon baby to take as a special treat for the mom to be.  Isn't it cute?

June 23, 2012 Meredith's Interview

My friend Meredith is running in a Ragnar Race (see below) in the Florida Keys in January.  There are 12 members on her team.  They are putting together a documentary of her team members as well as filming the race in January.  It was Meredith's turn to have her interview and I offered to let her use the space in our backyard for it to take place.  One interview was of her and and her husband Dave and then the other one was just with her alone.
Meredith, Dave & Angela Lee, the documentary director.

Ragnar is the overnight running relay race that makes testing your limits a team sport. A team is made up of 6-12 individuals; each individual runs 3 legs. The legs of the race vary in difficulty and distance, from 3-8 miles, allowing elite and novice runners to run together. Over 2 days and 1 night, teams run across 200 miles of the country’s most scenic terrain. Pair that with crazy costumes, inside jokes, a great finish line party and unforgettable stories. Some call it a slumber party without sleep, pillows or deodorant. We call it Ragnar.

Meredith is Runner # 2 of the 12 and these are her 3 legs.

June 21, 2012 Alicia's Knee Surgery

Alicia was finally having knee surgery to hopefully get rid of the pain she has had in her knee for years.  It is all a result of Osgood Schlatters (google it...lol)  We had to be at the hospital at 7:00 am and her surgery was scheduled for 9:30.  Of course there's all that prep stuff you have to do, first the paperwork, meet with the pre-op nurse and get the IV etc, meet with the Dr so he can discuss what he's going to do, then meet with the Anesthesiologist so you know who is putting you under.  I got pictures of it all along the way.  The surgery took about an hour, she was in recovery for about an hour and then was sent home.  But before being sent home she had a few....."I'm gonna be sick" moments.  Didn't happen, until she got home.  Overall, a good surgery and hopefully a speedy recovery.
All relaxed, waiting to check in.
Dr Levine going through what is going to happen.
The pre-op nurse Barry.
The Anesthesiologist
This was the chunk of bone Dr Levine found inside,
which explains all her pain.  It is about the size of a quarter.
Getting ready to go home.  Looking good, but feeling a little green.

June 20, 2012 Bunko

Funny story....some of you know that I have a partner in the bunko group during the $3.00 game.  From the first time I played bunko we have agreed that if either of us wins we will split it.  I forgot to take a picture last month but my partner, JoAnne, won the pot which means she split it with me.  Yea!!!
June Bunko was at my house and I won the pot so it was my turn to split it with JoAnne.  Double Yea!!!

Father's Day 2012

Father's Day was a day outside in the pool.  Kev had the tv set up so he could watch baseball while keeping cool in the water.  Heather & Alicia came over and we enjoyed a relaxing but hot day.  After a few hours outside, it was time for dinner which was green chili and ice cream cake.....two of Kev's favorites!!

Alicia posted a picture of her & Kev on facebook with this caption, which really meant as much to me as it did to him.
Today is a great day to celebrate the best dad my mom could have picked for me, my Kev! He knows the true meaning of being a father and I am so lucky to have him as My dad.

June 16, 2012 Barb & Tom's Anniversary Party

Barbara and Tommy have been married for 40 years this year, so Kristien and Nicole decided to throw them a surprise party and it turned out great.  They had friends, fellow co-workers and family all come over to help celebrate.   It's so awesome to see that these high school sweethearts are still in love and going strong.  Congratulations to both of you and here's to many more years together!!!
(pretty sure neither one of them reads my blog, but they still deserve a shout out....lol)

June 15, 2012 Charity Bowling

Madeline & JR take part in this charity bowling every year for a group called New Leaf.  We have bowled with them in the past and they invited us to do it again this year.  There is always a theme and this years theme was back to the future, so our team name was the Hello McFly's.   Had a great afternoon bowling with them as well as Grandma & Papa.

June 13, 2012 Cleaning the Garage

When we were up in Flag this past weekend, Janet gave me a bunch of canning jars that she had from when Edith used to do alot of canning.  I brought them home so that we could use them for salsa.  I had to bring them home in bags and boxes and even a pot.  I told Kev I would clean the garage so that I could make room for them.  (Which really means I wanted them put away neatly...lol)  So I got to work and got everything sorted and put into place.
Here it is all cleaned up
Nice and neat!!!

Paul's Birthday Dinner

I know Paul's birthday is in May, but we couldn't get a night that worked for everyone for dinner until now.  He picked Lucille's to go eat at, which is where we went last year as well.  Really yummy and always fun to hang out with the kids.  Can you believe he's 26?

Fancy Sunburn

Kev discovered that if he wore a hat with a big wide brim it kept the sun off him more and made it a little cooler.  He had this great hat that he somehow lost and has not been able to find one like it.  He found this straw hat that seemed like a good option.  His last one was a material hat but this one had a big brim and he thought it was good to go.  He went out fishing for a few hours and was sporting his new hat.

So check this out.....he actually got a sunburn from the holes in the hat.  OMG Jan and I were just dying laughing whenever we would look at him.

June 9, 2012 Lava Caves

If you've never been to the Lave Rock Caves or Lava Tubes as some people call them you should go.  It's really pretty cool.  At least as far as I've gone.  Kev and I went to them last year and only went down into them a 1/4 of the way.  We both wanted to be able to see daylight, so when we couldn't anymore we turned around.  We took Alicia & Veronica there so they could check them out.  They were all ready with my hat that has the built in lights, a splunker and flashlights.   I actually went in for a little ways and again turned around. (chicken)  The cave starts out that you have to do alot of climbing over big boulders, it's kind of narrow, it's cold and dark.  It goes in about 1 1/4 miles.  The two of them went all the way in, and describing it when they came out made me wish I had kept going.  Once you get into the tube part you really don't climb anymore but it opens up really wide and a lot smoother trail.
This is what it looks like from the top.

Alicia & Veronica heading into the caves.
Veronica told Alicia that they were gone so long that we probably thought she got hurt.  You have to understand that anytime anything has happened to Veronica, it has been when she is with us.  All is good they made it out in one piece.  And the first thing Veronica said was, "I only fell 3 times."
This is them coming out at the end.

Hiking with Alicia & Veronica

Alicia & Veronica came up to Janet's over the weekend and we decided to go do some hiking.  We headed over to pick some trails at Snowbowl.  The first one we did was a loop trail and if you check the map it says we were going to see 2 ponds and 2 cabins.....well we never saw any of them.   We really booked it on this trail, Kev was leading and we had a really quick pace so we think we missed it all cause we were going so fast.  LOL

Our next hike was also in the Snowbowl area and pretty much at the beginning of the hike the trail forked so we decided to take the one that looked like it went up.  Cause of course the thought of going up at the beginning of a hike is easier then at the end.  Well the hole trail was up hill.  There were a few breaks to catch our breaths but overall it was a fun hike especially on the way down.
It was so exhausting that the girls needed to take a nap.

As of January 2009, I no longer have a job. It's not that I lost it, but after 26 1/2 years of working at the Post Office, I retired. According to everyone I know, I don't do anything all day, so I decided to start a blog. Now I can blog about what I don't do all day. I am married to Kevin, who is the most awesome husband I could ever have. It's because of him, that I do not go to work any more. I love that and I love him for that. Between the 2 of us we have 4 children. Hunter 31, Heather 29, Paul 28 and Alicia 26.
