August 17, 2009 Cardinals Training Camp

When in Flag, do what the people of Flagstaff are doing.....watching the Cardinals practice at their training camp. If I could sit around in the beautiful pines and watch football all the time maybe I would like watching it more. It was only a few hours of practice, nothing too exciting but still fun.

August 12 - 17 2009 More Camping

Another camping trip!!!! Kevin has about
a month off and he has been itching to get
out of the heat so we headed up north just
outside of Flag. We got rain for 2 1/2 days,
it was awesome. This is the view outside our
trailer at our campsite.

On one of our drives looking for elk, we drove
through this patch of Aspen trees, aren't they
beautiful?

Everyone always asks me what I do all day
when we go camping for days at a time.
Well, I read books, I read more books, I watch
Kev fish, I watch Kev practice shooting his bow,
I play games with Kev, I go for quad rides, I nap,
I read more books and of course I have to tend the fire.
Alicia says I'm a little piro, and I told her why else
do you think I sell stuff you can burn?
Sounds relaxing huh?

It's not just burgers & dogs for us......Kev couldn't
believe I was taking a picture of our food.
But seriously, doesn't it make you want some?
I was using my new Pampered Chef veggie
basket for the first time.

August 15, 2009 Climb to Conquer Cancer, Flagstaff

Janet & I did the Climb to Conquer Cancer walk
in Flagstaff which goes up the road to Snowbowl.
It is a walk we have done before and will continue
to do for such a great cause. What an awesome day
for a walk all through the pines.

We joined a team that one of the girls Janet
works with at the university was on. Shannon
& her husband were on their first climb and
except for a few blisters, I think they liked it.

Of course we do the climb for the cause, but
I do need to tell you that this climb has Outback
Restaurant up on top feeding you fresh grilled
chicken, salad, rolls.....yummy!!! Who wouldn't
want to do a 7 mile all up hill walk for that?

August 11, 2009 Diamondbacks Game

Kev & I share season tickets with some friends
and it was our night to go to a game. Alicia got
tickets from Paul so she took her friend Caitlin.
It was a game we won, which was awesome.

We got to see one of the new players that the
Diamondbacks brought up from the minors have
an incredible night. He was a homerun away
from hitting a cycle, so when he came up for his
last at bat he got a standing ovation in hopes that
he would get it. Unfortunately he didn't, but he
did go 4 for 4 and a walk which was great.
The cycle is when you get a single, double,
triple & homerun......in case you didn't know.

July 24 - 27 Visiting Nicole in Minneapolis

We went to Minneapolis to visit Nicole in
her new apartment and check out her new
life. This is a picture from across Lake
Calhoun which is right across the street
from Nicole's apartment. Her building
is the short one behind the one with
the orange roof. It is such a great
location. All around the lake & just
all over Minneapolis are all kinds of
walking & biking trails plus lots
of green trees!!!

Kev found the walking trail to the local
liquor store because they do not sell liquor
in the grocery stores in Minnesota.

This is the Carlson Building that Nicole works
in. It is a really gorgeous building and the grounds
around the whole thing are just beautiful with
all kinds of flowers & trees & more walking trails.

We went for a little road trip up to Duluth to
check out Lake Superior. Wow....it's huge & it's like
looking at the ocean, you can't see the other side.
They have this really cool bridge there that raises
and lowers the road so that ships & boats can
come through .
We went exploring on Monday while Nicole
was at work. We ventured to Minnehaha Falls,
which is behind Kev & I except that there are no
falls. Minnesota is in a drought right now, which
for me was hard to believe because it is so green.

Then our tour guide (Kev) took us to St. Paul
where we wandered around the Cathedral of
St Paul. It was totally amazing. Absolutely
beautiful with all the stained glass windows,
ornate statues and of course a massive altar.
The Catholics really know how to build 'em.

Monday night we went to the Metrodome
and caught a Twins game. That was fun & now
Kev & I can cross off another stadium that
we've been to.

Super fun trip. Minnesota is really beautiful.
I think Nicole is going to totally love it there,
even when there is 4 feet of snow on the ground.
Can't wait to go back, but first she needs her own
space for awhile, right Cole?

July 26, 2009 Grandma Gay's 100th Birthday Party

We went to Minnesota for Kevin's
Grandma's 100th Birthday Party. It was so
fun to be there with her to celebrate. Kevin
hasn't seen some of his relatives for 10, 15, 20
years so it was almost like meeting them for
the first time. We had a great day at the park
& Grandma Gay just kept smiling as everyone
snapped picture after picture of her.

This is a picture of Grandma Gay with 6 of her
9 children.

Kevin with his mom, Grandma & brother Jimmy.

As of January 2009, I no longer have a job. It's not that I lost it, but after 26 1/2 years of working at the Post Office, I retired. According to everyone I know, I don't do anything all day, so I decided to start a blog. Now I can blog about what I don't do all day. I am married to Kevin, who is the most awesome husband I could ever have. It's because of him, that I do not go to work any more. I love that and I love him for that. Between the 2 of us we have 4 children. Hunter 31, Heather 29, Paul 28 and Alicia 26.
