March 2, 2013 Meredith's Marathon

Meredith had been training for months.  She had a schedule she kept and on alot of her training runs, especially the long ones, I rode my bike along with her.  But the day was finally here and she was more then ready.  She had a couple of friends from her Ragnar team coming to run with her.  The marathon started at Ussery Mountain shooting range bright and early.
I caught up with Meredith and her Ragnar team captain Rik, around mile 5.  Funny thing was, I rode my bike right past her thinking I had already missed her.  Initially my friend Rob was riding with me until his bike got a flat and he's the one that saw her so we rode ahead and waited for them to catch up.
This is a picture of Meredith with her Ragnar partners John, Rik and Rik's friend Jess that all came from out of state to run the marathon with Meredith.
Throughout the route I put signs up that said funny things about ME, which is a saying we made up that stands for Meredith & Elaine.  She knew they were for her and she was looking for them all 26 miles.

I rode my bike through the whole marathon and I had a cow bell around my neck so I just rang it and rang it all day.  Whenever anyone heard the bell they knew I was coming.  It was really fun.
After the marathon, amazing everyone was still smiling and enjoying the day like it was just another walk in the park.

Meredith started running when she was losing her weight.  She lost 101 lbs.  But up until this run, she has done several 5K's 10k's and 3 1/2 marathons.  She says this is her only marathon she'll ever do, but I think now that she's done one she will do alot more.  Congratulations to Meredith, one down and who knows how many more to come.  Way to Go!!!!!!

Heather's Engaged!!!!!

Yes it's true!!!  Heather and Peter got engaged.  He took her to Santa Barbara for the weekend and proposed on the beach at sunset.
Her ring is gorgeous.
She's so excited and so are we.  There's going to be a wedding and we are getting a new son-in-law.

February 23, 2013 Climb to Conquer Cancer

Climb to Conquer Cancer in Phoenix is always a good fun hike.  Not only is it for a great cause, but it gives people the opportunity to enjoy the company of so many people climbing for a cure.  I've done the walk in Phoenix and Flagstaff several times and each time new people come along.  This year we had a couple of new girls from my work doing the hike with us, plus it was Dave's first time doing the hike.  Our regulars returned, Alicia, Ashley, Kimi & Brandon and Meredith and I.  A couple of our other usuals couldn't make it, Nicole & Janet.

Here is our before the hike photo, still a little chilly so everyone had their jackets and gloves on.
My friend Terri, who I now work with and another co-worker. Lisa.
Half way up some us girls stopped for a photo, the rest of the girls plus Brandon, were way ahead of us.
Dave and Meredith showing off their
"I made it to the top" stickers.
Lisa, Terri and Deb just as they are reaching the top.  Still all smiling after the 5.2 mile hike all uphill.
Our group picture once we all reached the top. Alicia and them waited for us so we could all be in the team photo.  Need to crop the lady next to us...haha
Of course we had to get a picture of the back of our shirts with our awesome artwork for our team name.
Looking forward to doing the Climb in Flagstaff in August.  Some of our team members here want to go as well and I'm sure they'll enjoy another awesome hike up the road to Snowbowl.

February 22, 2013 Nate Wheaton's Wedding

It was such a pretty place for a wedding.  It was at the Red Mountain Country Club at sunset.  Nate is the son of Kevin's high school friend Mark.  He and Char'rae got married and had both their children in it, so cute.  I didn't get a picture of it, but the little girl pulled a wagon with her baby brother sitting in it.

We caught Mark having a few sips from his flask in anticipation of the big event.  Also, this is the first time he has ever worn a tuxedo, the first time his wife ever saw him in a shirt and tie!!!
Barb read this really nice story/scripture to them during the ceremony.
Happy to be having a drink and enjoying the party, Mark & Barb.
 Mother and Son.
Mother and daughter and new daughter in law.
Father and daughter.  And the photo bomber Twig, the shananigans were beginning.
These two together are something else.  The whole night was drinking and laughing.

And then more drinking and laughing.

Awesome Barber

Kev has been cutting his own hair for a while, but I always have to do the back and then trim up his neck.  So it was haircut day and he asked me to finish it up and I took the clippers and whipped right up the back of his head.  Oooops....the clippers were on 1 and suppose to be on 4.  No big deal, he always wears a hat so no one will even notice.

February 17, 2013 Camp Visitors

On Sunday, Alicia, Kimi and Brandon came out to hang out and enjoy a nice day with us at camp.  Rob has a Rhino so we decided to all take a ride.  There are so many roads and trails and washes to go on, you can actually ride for hours if you want.

At one point in the ride, Rob got stuck on a rock.  You can't tell from the picture but his front wheel is off the ground.  The girls jumped out quick and then he backed up and went a different way.  You can tell by Alicia's face that there was a scary moment, but no worries, not scary enough to spill her beer.

So when Rob had gotten stuck, I had jumped off the back of the quad (I was riding with Kev and Brandon was driving the other one) to help him navigate where to go.  When I was ready to ride again, Kev took off so I jumped on the back of the quad with Brandon.  We came upon a good rut in the road and the quad went one way and we kind of jumped and rolled off so it wouldn't fall on us.  When we got back to camp, I realized that my leg really hurt.  I had hit it on something, I think the foot peg,  and it immediately swelled up.  It looked like I had a knee in the middle of my leg.

Other then the bump on my leg, we all had a great ride and good time out in the beautiful Arizona desert.

February 16, 2013 Camping

Kev had a 4 day weekend so he wanted to do some camping.  Our friends Michele & Rob were anxious to take their new trailer out again so we invited them to come along.  We went out near Superior to a spot we have camped before and enjoy camping at during the winter months.  We can't go in the summer cause it's way too hot. It was a  fun couple of days just relaxing, riding quads and we even got in a little hiking.

As usual Kev has to somehow get in a picture that is not taken of him.  Funny thing is, I knew he was there but Michele & Rob had no idea.

As of January 2009, I no longer have a job. It's not that I lost it, but after 26 1/2 years of working at the Post Office, I retired. According to everyone I know, I don't do anything all day, so I decided to start a blog. Now I can blog about what I don't do all day. I am married to Kevin, who is the most awesome husband I could ever have. It's because of him, that I do not go to work any more. I love that and I love him for that. Between the 2 of us we have 4 children. Hunter 31, Heather 29, Paul 28 and Alicia 26.
