 Today’s Pic of the Day:

I love my family.  I know this isn’t a recent picture but I couldn’t let the month of love go by without sharing all the love I have for them.  All the kids are bigger now but it was still a great day to get them all together for this picture.  Still bums me out that Hunter, Jess and the kids didn’t show up but here’s a recent picture of Annaliese, Santanah, Avah & Kevin.   Plus a recent one of Alicia’s family and also Annabelle and Pippy.

I love to watch TV.  I have my favorite shows that I record and watch, I watch sports, game shows, whatever, I just enjoy sitting and watching TV.  And oh boy I love a good Netflix show to binge watch.  I sit in my chair with my blankie and just watch TV, I totally love it.  I cannot relate to people that say that don’t watch TV. lol

I love having a FitBit.  I’ve had one for years and I love having it to track my steps.  I do a lot of StepBet challenges which keeps me accountable for getting my steps.

Today’s Pic of the Day:

I love Diet Coke.  Funny I should say that with this picture, but here is why.  I was extremely addicted to Diet Coke for years!!! I can’t even explain how much I drank without you dropping your jaw.  But it’s going on 4 years in March since I have had one.  I quit because I just thought I should. But I still miss it so much.  But I also know that I can’t just have one here or there cause it will just turn into drinking it all day everyday.  So now all I drink is water.  Water, water and more water.  It was hard at first cause I missed my Diet Coke but now I’m use to it.  The picture of this ice drink is because I will have one of these every now and then and it gives me a happy feeling like my Diet Coke did.  So I guess you could say I love a nice cold Ice!!!

I love playing softball.  I played for years, like all the time.  In fact Kev and I met playing softball so it definitely has a special place in my heart.  But then our kids got busy and something had to give and it was softball.  But last year I ran into an old friend that I told I missed playing ball and he hooked me up with a girl that played on a senior league team.  She called me and told me her team needed players. So I was back.  I started playing in the league and I am playing again this year.  It’s really fun and I’m so happy to be out there again.  My friend Sue, who I play Pickleball with also plays but on a different team.  Today our teams played one another.  It’s great when we go up against each other because both our teams know we are friends and want each other to be the loser.  lol

 Today’s Pic of the Day:

I love this wall.  So funny that when we moved in this house I had told Kev I wanted to have a clock wall.  Just a wall of different sizes and shaped clocks.  He looked at me like I was crazy and thought it was the dumbest thing he’s ever heard.  So we settled on a cross wall.  I love the different ones and just the whole look of it.   Some have special meanings but I love them all.

 Today’s Pic of the Day:

I love to burn candles, but only PartyLite candles. I got turned on to them over 28 years ago.  I was a great customer and then decided to become a consultant.  I had a very good business, did lots of parties and even earned some awesome trips.  It’s been years since I’ve done any parties but I have still kept my website and I still have some of my original customers that still order.  But as for me and my love of candles, I love the ambiance it creates but I especially love the smell that lingers in the room when they are burning.

I got this email on Valentine’s Day about all the years I’ve been a consultant.  Crazy it’s been so long.  Candles were something I could sell because I loved to burn them and could always share that.

Have you ever read this book? I love it.  This is the book I gave Kev the night we got married.  All those years ago, before the saying of “I love you to the moon and back” became popular it was our saying and it came from this book.

In case you’ve never read it here’s the story:

I love my Longaberger Baskets.  For years I regularly bought Longaberger baskets cause Janet use to sell them.  I have so many I lost count.  I have them all over the house as well as more in a cupboard in the garage with some extras.  The sad news is is that Longaberger went out of business last year so what I have is all I’ll ever have.  I love this little hanger Kev hung for me so that I can display some of my smaller baskets.

 Today’s Pic of the Day:

I love being able to celebrate with friends.  Cheryl and Ron have been married for 50 years and they invited a few of us to celebrate with dinner.  My other friend Lyn said she would have us over at her house so we could all sit outside on her patio.  Lyn has a great backyard that sits on the golf course.  Cheryl and Ron were supposed to go Hawaii for their 50th but couldn’t because of Covid.  So as a surprise Lyn organized a Hawaiian party.  We decorated with Hawaiian decorations and she ordered leis from Hawaii for them, had leis for all of us and then had a guy come and sing some Hawaiian songs for them.  Yvonne and I made this great frame for pictures for some more memories for them.  In spite of Covid they loved being celebrated with just a few of their friends Hawaiian style.

 Today’s Pic of the Day:

I love being outside and taking in sights and nature.  Today Kev and I went on a hike to Flat Iron.  Flat Iron is the top of the Superstition Mountains.  We did this hike probably 20 years ago and I have been wanting to do it again for years.  But this year I felt I was ready to do it with all the hiking I’ve been doing plus I lost some weight so I thought I’d be able to cause I knew it was a tough hike.

Let me tell you tough may not even be the right word.  It was hard, it really was.  In fact, I thought it was harder then hiking the Grand Canyon.  It’s a hike that has a 3600 ft incline.  It’s a hike that has lots of rocks.  And I mean a lot.  It’s a hike that you actually do a lot of rock climbing. And I mean a lot.  It’s also a hike that for both Kev and I are now saying, we did it and won’t do it again.

We both said we didn’t remember it being so hard from all those years ago.  We both remembered doing some rock climbing but thought it was for maybe the last few minutes til you got to the top.  It was way more then that. More like 3/4 of the hike was rock climbing. But the whole trail is really all rocky.  It actually got to the point where I wasn’t even enjoying it.  Kev kept saying, just go ahead I’ll wait here for you cause I know you want to go to the top.  And I really did want to go to the top so that I could say I did it as well as to know if I actually could or not.  He was struggling cause his knee has been nothing him really bad.  So I did go ahead of him and ugh that was annoying too.  There really isn’t a “marked” trail cause it’s all rocks so you just keep climbing.  At one point I was climbing and climbing and just got to a point where I stood there saying I have no idea where I am or where to go and I actually said a little prayer asking God to help me and just keep me safe cause I was getting a little freaked out.  And out of the blue this girl yells at me from way over on another part of the mountain and says “hey.....the trail’s over here.” I couldn’t believe it cause I honestly didn’t know where to go. I was just gonna sit there and see if Kev came the same way and could find me, he was about 30-40 minutes behind me.  So this girl kind of guided me to where she was and got me back on track to keep going.  I made it to the top.  Honestly I don’t know how, the end part to the top was major rock climbing but I made it.  I sat up there for a while and ate a snack and then wondered if Kev was gonna come or if he just decided to hell with it and was just gonna wait for me to come down.  I walked back over to where I came up the trail and all of a sudden I see him!! I was so happy.

Now we were up there and wondered what the hell did we just do?  Yeah, we made it but now we had to get down.  Let me tell you, going down was even harder.  And even scarier.  Plus it hurt Kev’s knee even more, and at this point it was swollen huge.  I sat on my butt and just slid here and there to try and go down.  There really was no other way to do it.  Again, it was hard lol  Kev was hurting bad and had to keep sitting down, which I was fine with cause I was stressing out so bad about falling.

Once we got down to a point where the rock climbing wasn’t as bad I went ahead again and wanted to get down before Kev so that I could get to the car and try to bring it closer to a different part of the trail so he wouldn’t have to walk so far to the parking lot.  I may have saved him a 1/2 mile but every little bit helped by this point.

So we hiked Flat Iron.  Been there done that.  It’s pretty, don’t get me wrong.  And you can see some awesome views but we definitely won’t be doing that hike again.

This is the start of the hike and that’s the mountain we were heading for.

Kev wondering what he got himself into.

Here’s some of the rock climbing.  Kev was in front of me here, but not for long.
This area is called Siphon Draw.  Once you get here then now all you do is keep climbing.

The picture above is what I had just climbed and then I got a picture of Kev coming up.
When I first got to the top, I sat and had a snack and took a couple pictures while I waited for Kev.
There he is....now to climb through this mess of rocks.
Those are forced smiles lol
Haha....he just wants it to be over

I finished taking pictures at this point, I just wanted to be done.  Definitely a hike with a good story.

As of January 2009, I no longer have a job. It's not that I lost it, but after 26 1/2 years of working at the Post Office, I retired. According to everyone I know, I don't do anything all day, so I decided to start a blog. Now I can blog about what I don't do all day. I am married to Kevin, who is the most awesome husband I could ever have. It's because of him, that I do not go to work any more. I love that and I love him for that. Between the 2 of us we have 4 children. Hunter 31, Heather 29, Paul 28 and Alicia 26.
