 Today’s Pic of the Day:

I had a friend I met through playing Pickleball, Vicki.  Vicki and her partner Sue were a couple of players that Yvonne and I would end up seeing and playing against in tournaments.  We became friends and would even play together outside of tournaments as well.  Vicki found out she had cancer a few years ago and ended up dying this past year.  Sue took it upon herself to do a fundraiser on FB to get donations to have a bench placed at the Pickleball courts in Apache Junction where she played a lot.  Today, the bench was dedicated and along with Vicki’s husband, son and grandson, a lot of her friends showed up to show their support.  It was such a great tribute for such a wonderful lady that died way too soon, so sad.

I actually stole this pic from Alicia’s Snapchat but had to use it.  The kids use to tie towels around their necks and run around like super heroes, so for Christmas we bought them a pack of capes and masks so now they’re officially super heroes.  This is a pic of Vincent and Lainey on their climbing gym.  Haha, love the caption, Let’s do this!!!

It has been raining the last couple days but I’ve been able to get out and walk in between bursts.  Today, I was over at Alicia’s so when I left her house I went and did a trail not far from her house.  It’s part of the Maricopa Trail.

Kev and I came up with bags of clothes after we cleaned out the closet. Still going to work on some cabinets and drawers so hopefully we’ll  have more bags to go to Goodwill.

 Today’s Pic of the Day:

Whenever I cook bacon I usually cook 2-3 packs so that we have it in the fridge and all you have to do is zap it in the microwave to warm it up.  Very convenient!! So today, since I was cooking bacon I decided to make myself some snacks. (Kev won’t eat them) I cut dates, take the pit out, put diced pecans inside, wrap it in bacon and then fry it in the pan.    OMG so delicious.

 Today’s Pic of the Day:

I’ve been trying for a week or so to reach my 300 miles for my hiking challenge.  I decided today I was going to get there.  I needed 12.5 miles to reach it, so I got up and went and did 6 miles.  I came home and then played Pickleball for 2 hours, went home and had some lunch, then went back and hiked 7 miles.  I made it!!!! I’ve hiked 300 miles in the 100 miles in 100 days hiking challenge, and today is only day 83!!!

There are a few of these benches through out San Tan Mountain Park.  They are all placed in good spots, like on top of a hill or after a long stretch on a trail.  I don’t sit on any, but occasionally I will stop and use them to stretch.

Lainey had to go to the dentist today and get her lip tie cut.  Poor baby.  Alicia said she cried the whole time she was in there.  I watched Emery & Eli while they were gone and when she came home I told her to smile at the camera so Papa could see her teeth.  Her top lip was still numb so she was doing her best.

What is this a pile of you ask?  It’s bowl holders.  OMG are they amazing.  Grandma Lupe gave us our first ones and then my friend Janice made me a batch of ones that are different sizes that can hold bigger bowls or even plates.  Kev and I are guilty of eating on the couch in front of the tv and these are great cause you don’t have to hold a hot bowl/plate in your lap.

I have had the same blender forever!! My friend Meredith gave it to me years ago, but it is almost dead.  So I saw the Ninja Foodi blender on sale at Macy’s plus I had a $50 gift card so I ordered it.  It came it two days and holy crap is it amazing.  So far I’ve only made smoothies but boy do they come out perfect.

 Today’s Pic of the Day:

We keep having a water leak from the freezer.  One time we took the drawer out and found this big chunk of ice on the bottom so we got rid of it and that worked for a little while but then it happened again and more often where we would find big puddles of water coming out from underneath the whole refrigerator.  So Kev read that we should let the whole thing defrost and let it sit for 48 hours.  We completely emptied it out and squeezed everything into the fridge in the garage and let it sit. We turned it back on today so we’ll see how it goes. But in the meantime it got a nice cleaning and looks great.

For the hiking challenge I’m doing I have to take a picture of the trail I hike as well as a picture of my tracking app.  Whenever I hike I make a collage of the pictures I take and then submit it for my daily total.  Some days I end up going on several trails so I take a picture of each one.  Today was one of those days for my 5.30 miles.

I was hiking out at Ussery Mountain Park today and came across these three deer.  They are hard to see cause they really do blend in with the desert.  One thing you can see though is how dry it all is.  We need a good rain for sure.

Kev won his fantasy football league that he is in with guys here at Encanterra.  I don’t know where the name came from but the award is called “The Flying Fucktards” trophy.  Kev came home from the bar yesterday where they celebrated his win and brought home the trophy.  Today, I come in from playing Pickleball and he’s got his trophy on top of the bed.  Oh boy 🤦‍♀️

I keep making this Whole30 recipe I found that I love.  It’s called Chicken Tortilla Less Soup.  I make a batch and eat it for days, sometimes lunch, sometimes dinner, sometimes both.  lol  I made a batch today and it’s all packed up to put in the fridge.  No need to freeze it cause I eat it too fast.

For Christmas we got each Lainey and Emery one of these little shopping carts.  They loved them.  But...Eli wanted one.  He kept trying to take theirs.  Every time they turned around he tried stealing it.  It was so funny.  Then whoever’s cart he got they would run after him yelling “no lie lie no” and take it back.  Plus they loved the coffee cup holder and once he figured that out he tried to steal those too.  So so funny.  Today I bought another one since they are coming over tomorrow to spend the night.  Everyone will be so happy!!!

Today’s Pic of the Day: 

 Once again a screen shot.  This is off of an app I use for logging my walking & hiking,  called Strava.  It is the stats of  everything I did for 2020.  I have been doing a walking streak since last November and I haven’t broken it so I think it’s funny that it says I was active 364 days.  There were 366 days in 2020 but evidently for 2 days I did less then 30 minutes of exercise.  But overall I had some good mileage for the year.  

January 1, 2021 Picture a Day

A few years ago, I think maybe ten lol, I did a thing on my blog where I took a picture every day and posted it.  It was a fun project and kept me on my toes to make sure I was posting on my blog regularly.  I decided that I was going to do that again starting today for 2021.  There may be some pictures of some

random things now and then but there may also be some multiple pictures if something happens to be going on, but I want to make sure I post a picture every day.  

Today’s picture is something that I actually screen shot from someone I follow on Instagram but it is such a great read and an appropriate picture for the first day of the year.
