January 13 - 17 2011 Tree Burn Weekend

It was finally time for Tree Burn Weekend. Every year on Martin Luther King weekend we head down to Yuma to camp with Madeline & JR and all her relatives. It took us a while to get there this year, because we had a tire blowout on the way down. Luckily we had a spare and Kev got it changed really quick and we were back on the road. We did stop at Discount Tire and buy a new one and unfortunately it did a little damage to the trailer.

There are so many activities at Tree Burn....
collecting firewood for the perfect fire ring that Madeline & I built...
sitting around the fire playing with sparklers or even sleeping....
riding quads and going exploring....
and of course eating whatever Uncle Richard cooks.

There's even time to watch some football....

Maybe even a few too many shots....

But we all come for Saturday night, the Tree Burn and we had a huge stack of trees. People came from all the camps around plus some came from town. It's a big event down in Yuma and with so many trees they burned a long time.

On both Saturday & Sunday Alicia & Lianna went out with Steven & Pam to do some geocaching. It's actually like treasure hunting. They went on line to get the clues and coordinates and then set out to find them. Alicia is totally hooked and wants to continue to treasure hunt now anytime we are out camping or riding quads.

On Sunday Alicia got to drive Pam's Rhino and she loved it!!

Before we packed up to go home we went for one more quad ride with Steven, Pam, JR & Madeline.

As of January 2009, I no longer have a job. It's not that I lost it, but after 26 1/2 years of working at the Post Office, I retired. According to everyone I know, I don't do anything all day, so I decided to start a blog. Now I can blog about what I don't do all day. I am married to Kevin, who is the most awesome husband I could ever have. It's because of him, that I do not go to work any more. I love that and I love him for that. Between the 2 of us we have 4 children. Hunter 31, Heather 29, Paul 28 and Alicia 26.
