July 16, 2020 Alicia and Family Camping

Once we got the trailer Alicia kept saying she wanted to come camping with us.  She always loves camping and wanted the kids to like it too.  We had it all figured out when they would come and they broke up the drive by going up to Arnold’s mom’s house in Heber and spent the night there and then drove up to Greer the next morning.  They had Vincent for the weekend too so all 6 of them were coming.

It was so fun to see all the kids just get right into being outside and running around in the dirt and the woods and having the chance to just explore and get dirty.  Right behind our trailer there was a blind and I knew that the kids, especially Vincent, would think it was a cool fort.

Since that blind was already there he thought we should work on building our own.  So he and I and the girls went out looking for the right sticks to set up out walls.  He picked out the trees where he wanted it and we worked on it to try and get it just right.

The problem with the weekend was that the weather was crappy.  It was kind of cold and it rained.....a lot.  So with the rain came the mud, which brought on not just being dirty but being wet and dirty and muddy.  But really it didn’t phase the kids at all.  It was only bad when it was raining hard and we were all trying to stay dry sitting under the awning together.

The plan was for them to stay two nights but after the first night, the next morning Alicia came out and told us they weren’t staying another night.  It was hard for them all to sleep.  We have them (the 6 if them) the trailer to sleep in and Kev and I slept in the tent.  The hard part was that the girls have only slept in cribs so getting them to go to sleep and then stay asleep wasn’t really working.  So they didn’t sleep much and Alicia didn’t sleep cause she was trying to get them to sleep so it just wasn’t working.  Hence the only saying one night.  Which ended up better for them anyways cause after they left it rained really hard all afternoon.  Maybe they’ll  try it again next year.

As of January 2009, I no longer have a job. It's not that I lost it, but after 26 1/2 years of working at the Post Office, I retired. According to everyone I know, I don't do anything all day, so I decided to start a blog. Now I can blog about what I don't do all day. I am married to Kevin, who is the most awesome husband I could ever have. It's because of him, that I do not go to work any more. I love that and I love him for that. Between the 2 of us we have 4 children. Hunter 31, Heather 29, Paul 28 and Alicia 26.
